Sailor Moon- Jadeite

After a watching a video on Sailor Moon that was constantly on my recommended on YouTube, I was reminded with how much I loved this show. This, of course, led me to rewatch the entire show because wasting hours of my life for no reason is my favorite past time. I also found that I seriously lacked anime content so that led me to want to write about it. I was trying to figure out how writing this would work because there are a lot of episodes which means I'm not going to review Sailor Moon as a whole because I would forget the beginning by the time I got to the end. I also would not review every single episode because again there are a lot and since it's a superhero show there are a lot of "throw away" episodes. (This also lead me to want to create an "essential viewing" list, which would include only episodes that I think is important in regards to plot or character development.) The arcs themselves are quite large and are split into even smaller parts with what I'm going to call minion arcs. So, of course, we are going to start with the first villain minion we meet, Jadeite.

Rewatching this arc, particularly the first episode, I am reminded with what a fucking mess Usagi is. Like this bitch is me. Constantly crying, eating, sleeping, avoiding responsibility, and being completely useless all the time. I could not find a better representation of myself. That being said, my favorite Sailor Senshi is Sailor Mars. It was Sailor Jupiter when I watched this show for the first time, but Sailor Mars has been my favorite since my second viewing because she is such a bad ass. She snarky and childish like Usagi, but she's also a powerful ass bitch. Homegirl can kick ass even without her Sailor Senshi powers and I'm sorry but that just makes her superior. And like all of the other girls, she's absolutely stunning and her outfits are so cute.

Another thing that really stood out to me was what a fucking bop the soundtrack is. The intro is just so iconic. Hearing it again just brought back all these memories. Even after all this time not watching Sailor Moon and watching the subtitle version, I still remembered the lyrics and was able to sing along. The background music is so underrated. Every single time they are transforming, I'm straight up vibing with the music and dancing along. Hands though, the best background music is when Sailor Moon is doing that whole speech to the villains every episode. It's short and sweet and gets me fucking pumped.

The Villain- Jadeite

I don't really have much to say. Jadeite really is your basic ass intro villain. We don't really know much about him except that he works under Queen Beryl, so character wise, he is pretty bland. At this point of the show, it's still a mystery as to why they want human energy or anything. So like, we are just fighting evil because they are evil. There's not really much to say. I'd give him like a 5/10. He's basic and gets the job as a villain done.

Essential Viewing

These are spoiler free. I included brief reasons why I think the episode is important are blacked out and you can highlight it to see. Basically I think all of the episodes are pretty important to the plot. Since this is the beginning of the show, a lot of the episodes were included because a lot of new things are getting introduced

Episode 1 (first episode)
Episode 3 (introduction of transformation pen and fights jadeite for the first time)
Episode 5 (introduces idea of moon princess and moon tiara stardust)
Episode 8 (introduction of Sailor Mercury)
Episode 9 (introduction of Sailor Mercury's super computer)
Episode 10 (introduction of Sailor Mars)
Episode 13 (final episode of Jadeite's arc)

My Favorite Episodes- SPOILERS

Episode 6

Even though nothing really important happens in this episode, I absolutely loved the story of the musician and the girl he was in love with. It was literally just this dude pining over this girl and trying to confess through writing a song for her, giving her roses, jumping to save her, and finally telling her that he likes her. We find out at the end of the episode that they got married and the musician dedicated a song to Sailor Moon.

Episode 10

Of course, I had to include the episode that introduces the bomb ass queen that is Rei. She is so fucking cool and strong af even without the transformation. She finds out that Jadeite is the perpetrator herself using her praying powers, and was fully ready to kick his ass before being sent to the bus dimension. I also loved Usagi being terrified of the bus. We all know that the bus is dangerous and she is rightfully afraid, but of context it is so nonsensical and hilarious. I am also obsessed with how she has to transform into a bus attendant just to gain courage to board the bus. Anyway, the episode ends with Tuxedo Mask saving their asses with a bus, introducing the love triangle between Usagi, Rei, and Mamoru, and Ami doing nothing.

Episode 11

This episode will forever live in my mind rent free. I absolutely love theme parks, so having an episode in one was definitely really fun. The dynamic between Usagi and Rei is so chaotic, I fucking love it. Also the monster that they were fighting is so terrifying, like there is probably nothing that scares me more than a fucking animatronic doll thing. I also think that their power was pretty cool. All of the monsters have a sort of delusion thing going on, but this one with the even more vivid hallucinations seemed more powerful to me. It really felt like this episode marked the beginning of more powerful monsters and the beginning of Jadeite's end.

Honestly, I just love Sailor Moon. It's so nostalgic and fun. In the beginning, we aren't really getting a lot in terms of character development and plot, but I know what's coming up and I know it's absolute fire. I'm just gonna say this now, but I am obsessed with the ending for the first season, as well as Black Moon Clan arc in Sailor Moon R. So, I am just so fucking excited to rewatch that. I will also say that I have never reached further than Sailor Moon SuperS with the Dead Moon Circus, so maybe I will actual watch it maybe not. Either way I had fun and I heavily encourage those of you who haven't watched Sailor Moon to give it a go, and for those of you have to watch it again. So... Um... Yeah...

NCT Dream- Chewing Gum

Ok, so, another sub group of NCT, NCT Dream, came out Chewing Gum. This might be favorite single that NCT came out with. It's so bright, fun, and cute. Every time I see the video I break out into a smile. The story is pretty lighthearted, and it's very entertaining to watch. I absolutely love the bright colors that they use throughout the video. It really adds to the group's cute and bright theme. I found the video quite interesting to watch. They had a variety of different sets, including the ones made by the computer, and all of them were of bright colors. I also enjoyed the electronic made backgrounds for when the members had the closeups. Each person had a different animated background, so it was interesting to see what was behind them. I also kind of funny that they were using those hoverboard-thingies. (I have no idea what they're called, but I think it's a hoverboard?) The song is quite catchy, and I could probably listen to it over and over again for hou...

Astro- Baby

For those who might know, Astro is a somewhat new group under Fantagio that debuted in 2016. I have been fans of theirs since I watched To Be Continued, which is available on Netflix. 😉 (Check it out!) Sanha has to be my bias 💛, but Moon Bin is such a bias wrecker. 😖 I LOVE this song! It continues their fresh, sweet, and fun concept that they have kept since debut. However, this is less cutesy and right up my alley. It's smooth but still bright, which is absolutely perfect. It has that certain funk to it that is irresistible and insanely catchy. The reoccurring beat is sooo catchy and is great. The electric guitar at 2:43 is EPIC!! I'd have to say though that the ending has to be my favorite part. That beautiful harmony hits the spot, and is perfection. But, Sanha singing the 2nd chorus was really great as well (I really love his voice 💛) One thing I love about this video is how it's filmed in first person so it feels as if you are truly experiencing what's happ...
