LOONA- Why Not?

I know this came out like a week ago, so I am a little late on this. However, I have been listening to this song a lot and watching a lot of stages for it as well as the music video and every time I watch one I just have more opinions. I feel like when it comes to Loona, I spend so much time talking about line distribution. That's mainly because line distribution is shit and its basically Heejin and her back ups, which is just really distracting. I understand that Heejin is a talented performer, but so are the other girls, and they deserve some screentime and lines too. That being said, despite Heejin's overwhelming amount of lines, I declare Why Not? Vivi's era because I am so psyched that she actually got lines, screen time, and a center position. Bless the kpop gods because I've been waiting for Vivi to got some recognition. The music video itself I don't really have anything to talk about, besides appreciation for Hyunjin getting some extra screen time because we basically didn't see her in the rest of the video. Instead, I would like to talk about the stage performances and more on the line distribution.

Ok, first let's talk about the showcase stage. Of course, Heejin is featured on the thumbnail, why am I not surprised. When it comes to the outfits/styling, I'm pretty sure that they are the same as the first concept photos, which I just checked and yes they are the same. I personally am not a fan of the western aesthetic. I don't really like fringe and denim mixed with brown leather, just not my thing. My opinion of the best styled would be Yeojin. First off, I love her short straight bob. It's so cute on her!! And the little crystals below her eyes, I love it. She also has a cute, short, off the shoulder dress with a thick lace up belt and matching cowboy boots, tie up choker and dangling earrings. I love that it fits the theme, doesn't include the stuff I really dislike about the theme, and fits her cute aesthetic too. Worst styled I would have to say would be Kim Lip. Her outfit just looks so out of place. The top seemed too dark and didn't really seem to fit the western aesthetic. I think a white or more denim-looking version of that top would have been a lot better. Additionally, her red belt doesn't really fit in either and should probably be switched out with a brown one to match the cowboy boots. I think this was just a mistake because it didn't happen in the concept photos, but the bandana in her hair sticks out of the top of her head in a very odd manner. The concept photos showed it sticking out a little, but not to that extent and it just looks off. (Basically, she should have been styled as she was on the Mnet Comeback stage. Actually that stage is basically just the Showcase stage but with improvements) Also I adore Gowon's hair, I don't know how they did it, but it looks so shiny and absolutely stunning on her. I also loved the white jumpsuit stage with the black bandanas, like those outfits looked really cute. The suit and black dress attire were also pretty nice too.

Now the line distribution. Obviously, I'm upset at the insane amount of lines that Heejin gets. What really bothers me is that she gets at least one line in basically every section of the song, which is not necessary. For example, just in the first 4 lines of the song, the first verse and the pre-chorus, she already gets 2 out of 4 of the lines. Then in the second verse and third verse, she gets a line in both of those. She also gets 2 of those short throwaway lines that could literally be given to anyone, there is no reason for her to have those lines.

Like here are the line distributions (color coded by their color, so Heejin, Hyunjin, Yeojin, Vivi, Kim Lip, Jinsoul, Choerry, Yves, Chuu ( I might just say Vivi/Chuu bc their colors are similar), Gowon, Olivia Hye

Outro
Ooh la la a wae, a wae, a wae
Ooh la la wae wae an dwae an dwae

So, like, I'm sure you can see the sheer amount of hot pink in this. If you want to start off the song with Heejin, that's fine, I don't have an issue with that. Just give her Pre-chorus 1 part, Verse 3 part and throwaway lines to other people, because she doesn't need them and they can easily be given to someone else. I feel like the prechorus part would really suit Yves or Olivia Hye, and if Haseul were here it would be perfect for her. The Verse 3 part I would hands down give it Gowon. Gowon has basically no lines, I'm pretty sure she is labeled as one of the rappers, and I think it would suit her as well, so it's like perfect for her. Then I would give all the throwaway lines to Yeojin, because they tend to be cute and that would fit her.

Since we are talking about a stage performance let's talk about the center distribution. Honestly, I'm not mad. Considering the line distribution, which would affect the center distribution, I think it's pretty fair. It's definitely upsetting that Yeojin and Gowon barely exist, but it's one of the more fair distributions for Loona. So, no real complaints and I'm loving the Vivi center.

Now, I need to talk about Hyunjin. I have watched several of these stage performances and found her performances slightly disappointing, especially in comparison to all the other girls. I have found her center parts for Verse 2 and her part in the second chorus to really lack energy and charisma. Understand, that I am saying this out of love, because I adore her and she's my bias, I'm just disappointed. I think that the best stage she did for her part in Verse 2 was probably the Mnet Comeback Stage and for the "Woo Hoo" I would say the Music Bank performance on October 23. That being said she kills her part in the outro every time. Update: I just watched the November 15 Inkigayo performance and Hyunjin fucking killed it there. It is definitely the best stage she has done for this song. Also, her birthday is also on November 15th, so Happy Birthday Hyunjin!!!

That being said, I do like the song. Is it my favorite Loona song? No. I think my favorite Loona title track thus far (excluding solo and sub-group) is Butterfly. But the song is fine, I can listen to it and not have very strong opinions on it except for the distribution. Also, I'm really missing Haseul. I hope she is well and I can't wait to see her and hear her amazing voice again. Yeah, check out Why Not? because why not? So... um... yeah...

Sailor Moon- Jadeite

After a watching a video on Sailor Moon that was constantly on my recommended on YouTube, I was reminded with how much I loved this show. This, of course, led me to rewatch the entire show because wasting hours of my life for no reason is my favorite past time. I also found that I seriously lacked anime content so that led me to want to write about it. I was trying to figure out how writing this would work because there are a lot of episodes which means I'm not going to review Sailor Moon as a whole because I would forget the beginning by the time I got to the end. I also would not review every single episode because again there are a lot and since it's a superhero show there are a lot of "throw away" episodes. (This also lead me to want to create an "essential viewing" list, which would include only episodes that I think is important in regards to plot or character development.) The arcs themselves are quite large and are split into even smaller parts with ...

NCT Dream- Chewing Gum

Ok, so, another sub group of NCT, NCT Dream, came out Chewing Gum. This might be favorite single that NCT came out with. It's so bright, fun, and cute. Every time I see the video I break out into a smile. The story is pretty lighthearted, and it's very entertaining to watch. I absolutely love the bright colors that they use throughout the video. It really adds to the group's cute and bright theme. I found the video quite interesting to watch. They had a variety of different sets, including the ones made by the computer, and all of them were of bright colors. I also enjoyed the electronic made backgrounds for when the members had the closeups. Each person had a different animated background, so it was interesting to see what was behind them. I also kind of funny that they were using those hoverboard-thingies. (I have no idea what they're called, but I think it's a hoverboard?) The song is quite catchy, and I could probably listen to it over and over again for hou...

Astro- Baby

For those who might know, Astro is a somewhat new group under Fantagio that debuted in 2016. I have been fans of theirs since I watched To Be Continued, which is available on Netflix. 😉 (Check it out!) Sanha has to be my bias 💛, but Moon Bin is such a bias wrecker. 😖 I LOVE this song! It continues their fresh, sweet, and fun concept that they have kept since debut. However, this is less cutesy and right up my alley. It's smooth but still bright, which is absolutely perfect. It has that certain funk to it that is irresistible and insanely catchy. The reoccurring beat is sooo catchy and is great. The electric guitar at 2:43 is EPIC!! I'd have to say though that the ending has to be my favorite part. That beautiful harmony hits the spot, and is perfection. But, Sanha singing the 2nd chorus was really great as well (I really love his voice 💛) One thing I love about this video is how it's filmed in first person so it feels as if you are truly experiencing what's happ...
