Top 10 Kpop Songs of 2020

Ok, y'all, I am feeling super psyched for end of the year lists and Spotify wrap up. I think we can all agree that 2020 was just not it and I am so ready for this year to end. That being said the kpop industry has blessed us with some bangers and I kind of wanted to celebrate these bops and make a list of my top 10 kpop songs of this year.  Disclaimer- these are my opinions and I have not listened to every song that came out this year. I have included B-sides because sometimes them B-sides really do slap harder than the title track. Also I am not 100% sure if all of these songs would be considered kpop. They are all Korean but it might not technically be categorized as kpop so please don't kill me over that either. I also put a condition of one song per artist because otherwise this list would basically just be Lucy because I am in love with every single song that they have come out with. Additionally,  I was going to rank them but then I saw just how different some of these s...

LOONA- Why Not?

I know this came out like a week ago, so I am a little late on this. However, I have been listening to this song a lot and watching a lot of stages for it as well as the music video and every time I watch one I just have more opinions. I feel like when it comes to Loona, I spend so much time talking about line distribution. That's mainly because line distribution is shit and its basically Heejin and her back ups, which is just really distracting. I understand that Heejin is a talented performer, but so are the other girls, and they deserve some screentime and lines too. That being said, despite Heejin's overwhelming amount of lines, I declare Why Not? Vivi's era because I am so psyched that she actually got lines, screen time, and a center position. Bless the kpop gods because I've been waiting for Vivi to got some recognition. The music video itself I don't really have anything to talk about, besides appreciation for Hyunjin getting some extra screen time because ...

Lucy- Panorama

So fucking psyched about this album! I listened to the all the teasers and all of them sounded amazing. Based off of the mini-album highlight medley, I was most looking forward to Straight Line with Flare being second. Honestly though, just from the teasers alone I knew that this mini-album was gonna be right up my alley.  Just a quick heads up I had half of this post written on August 13th, which was a lot closer to when the mini-album came out than now. Not gonna lie, I don't regret putting it off. I still am in love with this album, and Lucy is still releasing content regarding this mini-album on their Youtube channel. I know they released lyric videos for all of these songs, which include the Korean lyrics and the English translations. They also released a commentary on the album with English subs which is just so interesting. They showed the production process as well as the meanings behind each song and the album as a whole. So, please check them out! It's so cool that t...

Superband Auditions

As promised, here is Superband Recap 1!!! 👏👏👏👏 My new obsession with the band Lucy has lead me to the show Superband. Sadly, even though this show aired around a year ago, finding English subtitles for this show was extremely difficult. I had to go to twitter where 0412subs and jungjaesammy were kind enough to translate episodes 1, 2, 3, 4, and 8 and are working on the rest. It's such a shame that this show had not been translated prior since it has been a hot minute since the show initially aired, but I am so thankful for 0412subs and jungjaesammy for translating this show and making it more accessible to an international audience and allowing these musicians to get more publicity. Now about the show itself. I, of course, was super pumped to get started on watching the show because of Lucy and their amazing debut song Flowering, where you can find more of my opinions on here . I am also really interested in learning about different indie artists since I have been finding mys...

Lucy- Flowering/Dear

I was going through my youtube recommended when I saw this song, Flowering, and was intrigued since I had never heard of the group Lucy. Turns out, this is their debut track! I'm a bit late on this because the video was posted two weeks ago, but I absolutely love this song, so I had to write about it. I won't really talk about the video because it was just them playing their instruments for the most part. Let's talk about Lucy, themselves. They are a four member band with Shin Yechan on violin, Choi Sangyeob on guitar and vocal, Jo Wonsang on bass and vocal (and production?!), and Shin Gwangil on drums and vocal. They were on a show called Super Band which was a show in 2019 that featured indie musicians that would compete and come together to form different bands. I have not watched the show but I think I will because I have really been getting into indie music. Also, if I could just hear more from this band and maybe find other bands with a really unique sound that woul...
